The Ultimate Fashion Role Model
CARRIE BRADSHAW
Writing a column in prestigious New York City discussing sex, life in the city with her three closest friends, and most of all, fashion. It would be very difficult to prove that anyone interested in fashion does not know of Carrie Bradshaw. It really should be a shame, that she is only fictitious, and not real. She is portrayed by real life fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker.
Carrie is someone who lives for fashion, as she has confessed to buying Vogue instead of dinner, in her poorer earlier days.
Carrie is particularly known for her addiction to shoes, calling it her "substance abuse problem" She, on principle is a known shoe lover with penchant for expensive designer shoes (notably Manolo Blahniks, but also Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo), Carrie claims she has spent over $40,000 on shoes.
Her pairs seem to average at least $400 a pair (according to Miranda, her best friend), and it is implied that she has at least, if not more than, 100 unique pairs.
Bradshaw’s style can be considered the epitome of classy, with a strange twist that makes it ultimate eye candy. From Marc Jacobs tops to Manolos, and fur coats to Fendi, and a Vivienne Westwood wedding dress to extravagant jewelry, Carrie Bradshaw always is the center of attention.
Carrie is a resident of Manhattan, New York. She lives in a brownstone on the Upper East Side at the fictional house number of 245, on East 73rd Street, between Park and Madison. She lives in this apartment throughout the series, and buys it in the fourth season.
In the first Sex and the City movie Carrie claims that people come to New York City for the two L’s: labels and love.
“I'm looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't-live-without-each-other love,” is one of Carrie’s most famous quotes.
“She really has a way to make you think, when it comes to love, life, fashion, and sex. I love her character because her opinions and expressions are geared toward women. Mature women,” says Julie Vickers.
Anyone aspiring to be a fashion journalist, fashion designer, fashion merchandiser, or just be fashionable, should probably take notes from Bradshaw, who is one of the most noted ‘fashionista’s in the modern world.
